Extra Vecchio takes the long Toscano format and rounds it out with more fermentation and a denser tobacco core.

Toscano Extra Vecchio was introduced in 1953 and is a natural long made with an Italian Kentucky wrapper and a filler blend that combines Tuscan tobacco with a portion from Pontecorvo in Lazio. The line uses a longer fermentation process, and that extra time is meant to soften some of the blend’s harder edges while keeping the cigar firmly in the stronger side of the range.

The flavor usually starts with smoke, spice, and dark wood, then moves toward earth and a fuller tobacco weight through the center. It still reads as a strong Toscano, but the added fermentation gives it a rounder feel than Classico, with less angularity and a more settled middle section.

At 6 x 38, the format stays traditional and slim, but the body is more substantial than the shape alone suggests. It fits best when the goal is a long Toscano with noticeable strength and smoky character, but with a smoother overall rhythm than the sharper old-school blends.

Pairs well with espresso, grappa, or red wine.
