Description

Handmade in Nicaragua, the Ozgener Karatoba Gordo is a Sumatra-wrapped gordo from Ozgener Karatoba. Ozgener Family Cigars was founded by Tim Ozgener, whose father Cano founded CAO Cigars.

It blends an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican filler at a medium to full body, leading with earth, cedar, coffee, and a peppery, faintly sweet finish. At 6 by 60, it burns slow and cool, closer to an hour and a half than an hour.

Sumatra takes fermentation well without turning bitter, which is why it turns up on so many sun grown cigars: give it extra sun and it goes darker and sweeter rather than harsher.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
