From Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s E.P. Carrillo, the EP Carrillo La Historia Dona Elena is a San Andrés-wrapped toro, handmade in the Dominican Republic. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo built the brand after decades shaping modern premium cigars.

It blends a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan filler at a medium to full body, leading with cocoa, espresso, black pepper, and a sweet, almost-syrupy dark earth. At 6 1/8 by 50, it burns cool and even.

San Andres is thick, tough leaf, which is exactly why it survives the long fermentation a maduro takes. Thinner leaf falls apart before it ever gets that far.

Pairs well with bourbon, espresso, or porter.
