New World was the first cigar AJ Fernandez made with his father. Ismael Fernandez had spent some seventeen years working for the Plasencia family before coming out of retirement to blend alongside his son, and the two named the result for Columbus’s 1492 voyage and the moment tobacco crossed from the Americas to the rest of the world. True to that theme of discovery, New World is an everyday Nicaraguan box-press built to overdeliver for the money. The original is a medium to full blend grown on the family’s Estelí farms, dark and earthy with espresso and pepper, and its success spun off a whole series, from a milder Connecticut to the bolder Puro Especial and Oscuro. Affordable and dependable, New World cigars are an easy daily smoke from one of Nicaragua’s busiest makers.
